FBI agents executed a search warrant Wednesday at the Fulton County elections office near Atlanta, the epicenter of President Donald Trump’s unfounded claims of a stolen election in 2020.
A spokeswoman for the county confirmed agents were looking for information about 2020, when Trump lost to Joe Biden.
“The warrant sought a number of records related to 2020 elections,” Fulton County spokeswoman Jessica Corbitt said Wednesday afternoon.
According to a copy of the warrant obtained and verified by MS NOW, the federal government is seeking evidence of voter fraud, as well as violations of a misdemeanor federal statute requiring elections officials to retain records related to presidential elections for 22 months.
A spokesperson for the FBI Atlanta field office confirmed agents were at the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center but declined to provide other details.
Trump and more than a dozen others were indicted on felony charges for allegedly conspiring to overturn the election results in Georgia, but the case was ultimately dismissed.
The Justice Department announced a lawsuit against the county last month — one of many examples of Trump’s DOJ pursuing cases against his political enemies.
Video captured at the scene by Greg Bluestein, chief political reporter for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and an MS NOW contributor, shows helicopters flying overhead.
