A second woman is alleging that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked her to the U.K. for sex with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, the BBC reported Saturday.
The woman’s lawyer, Brad Edwards, told the BBC that the alleged encounter occurred at Mountbatten-Windsor’s former residence, Royal Lodge, a 30-room mansion on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Edwards also told the British outlet that the woman was in her 20s at the time and that she is not British.
Edwards added that the woman was given a tour of Buckingham Palace and tea after spending the night with Mountbatten-Windsor. The allegation is the first from an Epstein survivor claiming a sexual encounter occurred at a royal residence, the BBC reports.
Edwards told the BBC he is considering filing a civil lawsuit based on the claims.
Representatives for Mountbatten-Windsor did not respond to a request for comment from MS NOW or the BBC. Edwards also did not respond to an inquiry from MS NOW.
Mountbatten-Windsor was evicted from Royal Lodge and stripped of his royal titles last year by King Charles III, his older brother, amid mounting furor over his ties to Epstein. Buckingham Palace said in a statement at the time: “These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.”
Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s victims, sued Mountbatten-Windsor in 2021, claiming she was forced to have sex with him. The case was settled for an undisclosed amount in 2022 with no admission of wrongdoing from Mountbatten-Windsor. Giuffre died by suicide last April in Australia, where she was living. Mountbatten-Windsor has repeatedly denied Giuffre’s allegations against him.
The new allegations follow the Justice Department’s Friday drop of more than three million pages of documents from its investigation into Epstein, a New York financier who was convicted of sex trafficking and died by suicide in jail in 2019. Mountbatten-Windsor is featured prominently in the new set of files, including in photographs showing him barefoot and kneeling over and touching the stomach and waist of an unidentified female whose face has been redacted.
The Associated Press reported that Mountbatten-Windsor’s name appears in the files several hundred times, including in emails in which Epstein offers to introduce him to a 26-year-old Russian woman and in an invitation Mountbatten-Windsor extended to Epstein to dine at Buckingham Palace.
MS NOW is reviewing the documents released by the Justice Department in collaboration with journalists from NBC, AP, CNBC and CBS. Journalists from each newsroom worked together to examine the documents and share information about what is in them. Each outlet is responsible for its own independent news coverage of the documents.
On Saturday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on Mountbatten-Windsor to testify before Congress on his ties to Epstein.
“In terms of testifying, I have always said anybody who has got information should be prepared to share that information in whatever form they are asked to do that,” Starmer said. “You can’t be victim-centered if you’re not prepared to do that.”
