On Aug. 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the Louisiana Coast. Arguably the worst natural disaster to face a generation of Americans, the category-four storm left more than 1,800 people dead, displaced about 1 million, and caused more than $100 billion in damage.
On Friday, former President George W. Bush returned to New Orleans and, 10 years after the historic storm left 80% of the Big Easy covered in flood waters, he declared: “The Crescent City has risen again, and its best days lie ahead.”
