“Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart,” Victor Hugo once wrote. Snow still lingers after last week’s storms. The calendar, though, is already flipping ahead.
As February turns to March, Americans are shaking off the slush and heading out this weekend for races, matches, operas, and more. Here’s what’s happening:
For wrestling fans, the WWE’s Elimination Chamber brings its 16-foot steel cage to the Windy City this weekend. Pick your favorites from the six men and women hoping to punch a ticket to a WrestleMania title.
In Staten Island, N.Y., 2028 Olympic hopefuls and world champions alike will meet at the starting blocks for the 2026 USA Track & Field indoor championships. On your marks, get set, go.
Down in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida, IndyCar revs up for a new racing season at the Firestone Grand Prix, with fans lining a waterfront street course for the opening laps of the year.
If you prefer your horsepower with a bit more altitude, head northwest to Tampa. Monster Jam roars into Raymond James Stadium, bringing gravity-defying jumps, oversize tires, and the shark-toothed Megalodon along for the ride.
In Dallas, family-friendly entertainment meets Mozart as the Dallas Opera presents “The Three Little Pigs,” where the Big Bad Wolf huffs and puffs — in perfect pitch.
And out west, the Skyline Festival turns Los Angeles’ industrial landscape into a two-day electronic and house music party, a pulsing celebration of the city’s architecture and underground scene.

Many of you wrote in about Mika’s good boy, Hobson. Thank you all for your notes. They mean so much to Mika and me.
Last August we lost our 14½-year-old Cavachon and the depth of the loss is tremendous, still. You have beautifully captured the spirit of Hobson and it is obvious that he felt your family’s love. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge knowing he was loved. A gift that went both ways. God bless you all.

I just wanted to let you know, I feel your loss of Hobson. In my many years on this earth I have lost fur babies always saying “no more, hurts too much,” then I’m at the shelter rescuing another. What brings more joy! Thanks for all you, Joe and your fabulous team do. You are all loved as was Hobson.

Just wanted to add to Mika’s sentiments on the loss of their beloved puppy. It’s coming up 10 years since my husband and I lost our precious Shadow. A border collie/German shepherd mix. We still miss her and still shed the odd tear, but rejoice in having 12 years with her. We share your sadness at this time.

I just want to express my heartfelt sympathy to you both for the loss of Hobson. I know this is especially hard on Mika. I’ve had to do the hardest thing more than once for one of our boxers, because it’s the right thing to do for them. It’s the absolute hardest for all left behind, including the other dogs of the realm. I’ll hold you in my heart, and may you find solace in the wonderful memories you obviously have of your beloved Hobson. Be well.
