Just last year he was on the short list of potential Republican contenders for vice president.
But the latest Public Policy Poll shows that Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is now one of the most unpopular governors in the country. The poll says of the 603 Louisiana residents polled this month, only 37% think the governor is doing a good job compared to the 57% who are unhappy with his performance.
And Jindal’s disapproval number seem to cross party lines. Among the GOP, only 59% approve of his job performance recently compared to the 81% who gave him a positive approval rating in August 2010. Not surprisingly, his disapproval numbers soared with Democrats at 78%.
If Jindal were up for re-election in 2014, these latest poll numbers would mean trouble for the Republicans in Louisiana. Jindal is currently trailing behind potential opponent Sen. Mary Landrieu, 49% to 41%. The Democrat currently serves as the senior senator for Louisiana. Landrieu has a slim approval rating of only 47% at this point, but she held a solid lead up against all seven possible Republican opponents the polling agency tested her against.
