A son of Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol in Kentucky after hitting a parked car on Sunday.
William Paul, 22, ran into an unoccupied parked car in Lexington, Kentucky, around 11:24 a.m., according to the police citation. Authorities found Paul sitting in the driver’s seat of a 2006 Honda Ridgeline and that he smelled like alcohol, “had bloodshot watery eyes” and “was belligerent,” according to the report. Paul failed a field sobriety test.
A Rand Paul campaign spokesman said, “Senator Rand Paul does not comment on any private matters in regards to his family.”
William Paul was taken to the University of Kentucky hospital to be treated for minor injuries and cited with a DUI and failure to maintain required insurance, the Associated Press reported. He was not arrested.
