Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* On the eve of Texas’ primary day, there’s growing evidence that Republicans are trying to boost Rep. Jasmine Crockett in her Democratic Senate primary, seeing her as a weaker general election rival.
* That said, the congresswoman is getting plenty of Democratic support, too: Former Vice President Kamala Harris endorsed Crockett and recorded a robocall on her behalf late last week.
* Speaking of the Lone Star State’s Senate races, there’s reason to believe that Republican Rep. Wesley Hunt’s campaign is quietly working with an aligned super PAC, despite legal limits about such coordination.
* In Virginia, a group called Virginians for Fair Elections, which supports a new congressional map that would favor Democrats, is launching a new ad campaign ahead of a statewide referendum. Early voting in the commonwealth on the referendum begins later this week.
* Last week, on the same day as Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, Democratic candidates won two state legislative special elections in Pennsylvania and another in Maine.
* Despite weeks of scuttlebutt on Capitol Hill about his possible resignation, Republican Rep. Neal Dunn of Florida announced last week that he will serve out the remainder of his term. House GOP leaders have publicly acknowledged lobbying Dunn to hold on to his seat to prevent the party’s tiny majority from shrinking again.
* The latest Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll found Democrats with a narrow lead over Republicans on the generic congressional ballot, 47% to 45%, but the same survey found Democrats enjoy a wide advantage in voter enthusiasm.
* And while March isn’t generally thought of as a key month for elections, there are all kinds of interesting contests on tap for this month, and Bolts published a helpful guide.
