Former Secretary of State Colin Powell might be 76 years old, but he still knows how to take a great selfie and he’s been taking them for way longer than most people.
The four star general took to his Facebook page to share an old-fashioned selfie he says he took six decades ago for “Throwback Thursday,” that’s the unofficial social media tradition of sharing an image from “back in the day” on Thursdays.
“Throwback Thursday – I was doing selfies 60 years before you Facebook folks,” Powell said, adding: “Eat your heart out Ellen!” a reference to Ellen DeGeneres’ celebrity-studded Oscars selfie that recently broke the all-time record for retweets on Twitter.
Powell’s post racked up more than 40,000 likes by midday, but hasn’t come close to topping Degeneres’ record setting 3.3 million retweets just yet.
